No matter if you are an Emerald Coast native, new to the area, from on of our neighbor states or visiting our beautiful and colorful Emerald Coast - be sure to treat you, your family and friends to this popular regional event on June 16, 2018!

What’s in a name? The Indian word “Boricuas” translates to native “Puerto Ricans” and the word “ausentes” translates to “absent” so “Boricuas Ausentes” translates to Puerto Ricans absent from Puerto Rico.

Latin Salsa Festival on the Emerald Coast

The first Latin Salsa Festival was held in 2007 at the Eglin AFB Beach Park on Okaloosa Island and was themed, 'A Caribbean Style Beach Party.' An attendance of 500+ people made it a success and sparked further interest to make it bigger and better.

NWFBA, Inc was the first to bring a Latin Salsa style event to the Emerald Coast bringing festival attendees as far as South Florida, Jacksonville, FL; Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Montgomery, AL; and Gulf Shores, AL and surrounding areas.

With support from family and friends, such as Roberto Rivers and Ivan Blanco; Jose (NWFBA, Inc Founder and President) has been able to achieve his creation and dream of sharing and celebrating his beloved country of Puerto Rico's culture.

This year in 2018, we will now be known as the

LATIN SALSA MUSIC FESTIVAL

'Nuestra Historia y Mision'

The Northwest Florida *Boricuas Ausentes, Inc. (NWFBA), is the presenting organization of the “Latin Salsa Music Festival” (formerly known as the "Latin Salsa Festival)."

Besides sharing the fun and educational values of the Latin culture with the Florida Panhandle communities, the event is also dedicated to raising funds and awareness of the youth organization AMI Kids - Emerald Coast Chapter. This organization is committed to the redirection of troubled young adults who have a hard time socializing with their school and/or community peers.

We are a group of volunteers whose dream is to promote harmony amongst all our communities in the Florida Panhandle as well as share our vibrant Hispanic culture and heritage with our neighbors.

Join us as we celebrate a chance to bring our communities together during the festivities in June and bring awareness and most of all support our young AMI Kids! Everyone will feel rewarded!
